Managing Water Demand During the Saudi Summer
Between June and September, water demand on a typical Saudi construction site can rise by a third or more against the winter baseline. Three effects stack on top of each other.
Curing demand increases
High ambient temperatures accelerate moisture loss from fresh concrete, which increases both the volume and the frequency of curing water required to protect the pour.
Dust suppression demand increases
Drier ground and stronger seasonal winds mean haul roads need wetting more often to stay compliant and workable.
Storage becomes less effective
Open or poorly shaded storage loses volume to evaporation, and warm stored water is less effective for curing.
What to do about it
Review your volume band with your supplier before the season starts, shade or cover site storage, shift deliveries to early morning where possible, and agree a surge arrangement for heatwave weeks rather than negotiating one under pressure.
